When is the Best Time to Visit an Obstetrician in Sunrise?

When is the Best Time to Visit an Obstetrician in Sunrise?

Congratulations! You just got some great news–a positive result on your home pregnancy test! You must be feeling all kinds of overwhelming emotions and rightly so, you’ve just found out you’re going to have a baby! Well, it’s wonderful to keep your mood positive but false positives occur with home pregnancy tests all the time. So, what should you do in that case? You can always take another home pregnancy test to be sure, but the best way to confirm you are expecting is to make an appointment with your obstetrician as soon as possible. It’s a simple blood test that any medical professional can administer. After you have confirmed the wonderful news, your obstetrician will want to see you on a regular schedule, usually every month, until a few weeks before when your appointments may get closer together as the baby progresses and you need to be monitored more closely. At All Female Health Care, in Sunrise, we help women of all ages get the best health care they need. We have an experienced staff and a team of warm compassionate doctors who are at the top of their field.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

At your first appointment which is generally 8 to 10 weeks along, your obstetrician will proceed with an office visit that consists of taking your full medical history as well as perform a thorough physical exam and possibly a pelvic and breast exam. If you haven’t had a pap smear in a while, your obstetrician will probably want to do this as a matter of course. At this point, your doctor will estimate your due date and may even do a vaginal ultrasound to hear the heartbeat if you are far enough along. It’s all very exciting—yet it can also be very overwhelming for a new mother who hasn’t a clue what to expect. At All Female Health Care in Sunrise, you can rest assured that you will receive the best care possible throughout your pregnancy when you deliver and beyond.
